Amazon University Esports To Host Special Gaming Events In UAE During Ramadan
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, Amazon University Esports is set to engage the gaming and esports community with an array of activities designed to connect students, influencers, and content creators. This year, the initiative has seen a significant expansion, welcoming over 120 teams from 10 new universities across the UAE. Overall, the participation has surged by 45% from the last season, with a total of 1,433 students joining from the UAE. This growth is part of a global push by Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports and GGTech, aiming to reach students across 26 countries and over 2,600 universities, with an impressive registration of 600,000 participants in various competitions.
The "Layali Ramadan" series will bring a unique entertainment experience to viewers, featuring weekly streams with popular games like League of Legends, VALORANT, Among Us, and Pummel Party. This concept allows audiences to engage directly with streamers and enjoy vibrant gameplay commentary, enhancing the community feel among students and gaming fans alike.

Ramadan CUP Tournament
Expanding its reach beyond the UAE, the Ramadan CUP Tournament will involve students from four countries within the MENA region. Competitors will battle it out in games such as TFT and Clash Royale, offering them a stage to connect with the global gaming scene, engage with influencers, and demonstrate their gaming prowess to a wide audience.
Fawazer Ramadan
The "Fawazer Ramadan" event invites gamers to share short gameplay clips from titles like League of Legends or VALORANT. These clips will be broadcasted on various platforms, challenging viewers worldwide to guess the players' ranks based on their skill and strategy. This interactive event aims to bring gamers together in a fun and engaging way during the holy month.
Mario Pérez, CEO at MENA Tech, which organises the project, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its potential to unite students from diverse backgrounds in celebrating Ramadan through gaming. With the esports industry expected to reach $1.6 billion by 2024, these activities are designed to create lasting memories and strengthen the gaming community.
The UAE's gaming and esports market continues to thrive, with a 6% increase in gaming revenue in 2022, reaching $6.8 billion. This growth is partly due to the Middle East's youthful population, with the UAE leading the way in gaming enthusiasm. Remarkably, 90% of adults in the UAE are gamers, the highest percentage globally, with 23% gaming for more than 11 hours each week. Supportive initiatives like Abu Dhabi's ADGaming, home to over 70 game developers and esports teams, are vital to the region's ongoing expansion in the gaming industry.
