Moroccan Runners Dominate Road Running Events At The 12th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament

Moroccan athletes excelled in the road running races at the 12th Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament. This event, held annually during Ramadan, took place at the Meydan Racecourse. Over 4,300 participants competed across various categories under the theme "Limitless Capabilities." The event was attended by notable figures like Saeed Hareb and Faris Al Mutawa, who initiated the men's 5km race.

Ali Al Mutawa started the women's 5km race, while Adel Darwish signalled the beginning of the 4km race. Moroccan runners dominated, with Yasser Al Shashoui winning the men's 10km in 27.52 minutes. Mohammed Ait Mammas Touda and Ismail Al Kharshi followed closely behind. Ruqayya Al Mazrouei led the women's 10km with a time of 38.36 minutes.

Moroccans Lead in Nad Al Sheba Road Running

In the women's 10km for citizens, Ruqayya Al Mazrouei was followed by Alia Al Shamsi and Fatima Al Shamsi. The men's citizen category saw Abdul Karim Tiki Abdul Rahman win in 28.15 minutes, with Obaid Al Nuaimi and Abdullah Surour Khamis Jumaa taking second and third places respectively.

The open women's category was also dominated by Morocco, with Rokia Al Moqim finishing first in 34.37 minutes. Wafaa Zeroual secured second place, while Belgium's Liesbeth Verheyden came third. In shorter distances, Hamid Al Moalla won the national men's 5km race in 15.41 minutes.

Amin Souida from Morocco claimed victory in the open men's 5km category with a time of 14.45 minutes. Kenyan Victor Kiprono Korir and Ugandan Guido Grace Okadabau followed him on the podium. Hessa Al Jasmi topped the national women's category with a time of 23.48 minutes.

Poland's Emilia Mangilinan won the open women's category in a swift time of 22.11 minutes, narrowly beating Morocco’s Wiam Al Fathi and Russia’s Alisa Petrova. Frenchman Jean-Claude Haramburi triumphed in the senior citizens' race with a time of 16.58 minutes.

Youth Competitions and Upcoming Events

In junior races, Britain's William Breen won the boys' 4km race in 15.38 minutes, while Germany's Carla Maria Benzmuller led the girls' category with a time of 15.20 minutes. Emirati Hamad Al Sabry claimed first place in the boys' division of this distance.

The girls' division saw British Hannah Schmidt finish first in a time of 18.03 minutes, followed by Ukrainian Mia Hobica and Emirati Hind Hassan Al Balushi. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the Laser Run Shooting Championship at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.

This two-day event marks its debut within this annual sports tournament framework, promising another exciting competition for participants and spectators alike.
