Dubai Highlights Gaming Aspirations At Gamescom 2025 With Landmark Pavilion And DPG33 Initiative
At Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany, Dubai showcased its ambitious gaming future. The Dubai Pavilion attracted numerous visitors, international delegations, and top global companies. This marked the first official government-led participation from the Middle East at this major gaming event. The pavilion highlighted the vast opportunities available in Dubai and the UAE's rapidly expanding gaming sector.
The pavilion featured three key organisations: Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC). These entities underscored Dubai’s dedication to becoming a leading global hub for gaming, creativity, and digital industries. Their presence demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering growth in these sectors.

Visitors learned about the ambitious Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 (DPG33). Launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative aims to position Dubai among the top 10 global gaming hubs by 2033. The program plans to create 30,000 new jobs related to gaming and contribute nearly USD 1 billion to Dubai’s digital economy and GDP.
Abdulaziz AlJaziri, Deputy CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, commented on their participation: "Gamescom provided a unique platform to showcase Dubai’s vision and leadership in gaming, while highlighting the city’s attractiveness as a global destination for investment, talent, and partnerships. Dubai’s innovation-driven ecosystem offers unmatched support for creative, digital, educational, and entertainment industries, positioning the emirate as one of the world’s most competitive hubs for gaming companies and entrepreneurs."
Faisal Kazim, Director of DPG33, noted the strong global interest in the pavilion. He stated that since DPG33's launch, hundreds of specialised gaming companies have been attracted to Dubai. This reflects the city's ability to create large-scale opportunities in game development and creative innovation.
Gamescom 2025 itself set new records with participation from 72 countries compared to 64 in 2024. Over 1,500 exhibitors showcased their offerings across an expanded exhibition space of 233,000 square metres. The event reinforced its status as a premier platform for gaming's future by bringing together developers, publishers, investors, and enthusiasts worldwide.
The success of Gamescom 2025 highlights the growing importance of international collaboration in advancing the gaming industry. With its strategic initiatives like DPG33 and active participation in global events like Gamescom, Dubai is poised to become a significant player on the world stage.
