Isaac Del Toro Secures UAE Team Emirates-XRG's 70th Win For The 2025 Season

Isaac del Toro secured his second stage race win of the season by finishing second in the final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos. This victory is a testament to his consistent performance throughout the week. Despite facing a flat tyre on stage 5, Del Toro managed an impressive ride to finish second at Lagunas de Neila.

With this win, Del Toro increased UAE Team Emirates-XRG's total victories for 2025 to 70 and brought his personal tally to nine wins for the year. After crossing the finish line on the final summit, he watched as his overall victory was confirmed. Del Toro also topped the young rider classification after five days of racing in Burgos.

Del Toro Achieves 70th Win for UAE Team Emirates-XRG

During the final day, victory seemed uncertain for Del Toro. As the favourites' group reached Alto de Rozavientos, he suffered a flat tyre and fell behind his rivals. Quick assistance from the UAE Team Emirates-XRG team car enabled him to make a remarkable descent and rejoin the peloton.

Del Toro navigated every corner swiftly, catching up with the group as they approached the final climb. The Lagunas de Neila, with its steep gradient of 9.1% over 6.4km, was set to determine this year's Vuelta a Burgos winner. Léo Bisiaux entered as leader but struggled against attacks from Giulio Ciccone and Del Toro with 3km remaining.

The pair used the steepest part of the climb to their advantage, pulling ahead without being caught before reaching the finish line. Although Del Toro aimed to contest in a sprint with Ciccone, fatigue from chasing back after his flat tyre caused him to fall behind in the last kilometre.

Ciccone claimed stage victory while Del Toro focused on gaining enough time over Bisiaux, who started as race leader. As Bisiaux dropped to third overall, Del Toro celebrated his overall win and UAE Team Emirates-XRG's 70th season victory.

Afterward, Del Toro praised his teammates: "The last stage was tricky; I punctured on the last descent and had a hard chase back on and thought the race might have been getting away from me, but we maintained calm and managed to get back in the race."

He expressed gratitude for his team's support: "I feel like I’ve taken a step forward this year, physically and mentally and I’m really enjoying my cycling. We had a great atmosphere in the team all week, and I’m very grateful for the team and the trust they show in me."
