F1-Collaborated Global Karting Series Takes Place At Dubai Kartdrome
The latest round of the Champions of the Future Academy (COTFA), a prestigious global series designed to foster emerging motorsport talent, recently took place at Dubai Kartdrome, a subsidiary of Union Properties.
Marking a significant milestone, this event was the first in the series to be held outside Europe, demonstrating Dubai Kartdrome's growing influence in the international karting scene. The collaboration with F1 Academy for this season's series drew a remarkable turnout, with over 100 karters from 32 different countries participating, highlighting the event's appeal and the diverse talent pool it attracts.

This round was particularly notable for featuring promising drivers from the Dubai Autodrome Karting Academy (DAKA) and junior series graduates, including Conor Clancy from Britain and Mohammed Mneimneh from Lebanon. Both drivers showcased exceptional skill, winning their Junior and Senior races, respectively. Clancy, a former Dubai O Plate champion and only 13 years old, shared his enthusiasm for the competition.
Another standout performer was Atiqa Mir, whose achievements include being the first female winner at the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy at the Le Mans Kart International Circuit. At COTFA, Mir relished the opportunity to compete at a high level, finishing impressively in her races. Her familiarity with Dubai Kartdrome, gained from the start of her karting journey there, played a crucial role in her performance. She highlighted the challenge and enjoyment of racing in a mixed grid, a testament to her competitive spirit and determination.
Maxim Bobreshov, a 12-year-old with six years of karting experience, also emerged victorious in the latest round. Bobreshov credited Dubai Kartdrome for providing a solid foundation for his karting skills, which he confidently applied in the competition. His success at COTFA reflects his growing confidence and mental preparation, essential attributes for excelling in global events.
The inclusion of Dubai Kartdrome in the COTFA series underscores its status as a premier karting facility in the Middle East. This initiative aligns with the venue's commitment to nurturing local talent and contributing to the future of motorsport.
The event also supports F1 Academy's objective of increasing female participation and inclusion in karting, with three female drivers supported in each of the mixed-gender categories. Following rounds in Spain and Italy, the championship will conclude in the UAE, with Al Ain and Al Forsan hosting the final stages. This expansion into new markets is pivotal for making the sport more accessible worldwide.
James Geidel, president of the organizing body RGMMC, expressed satisfaction with choosing the UAE, and specifically Dubai Kartdrome, for expanding the series beyond Europe. Praising the venue's professional operation and recent FIA circuit homologation, Geidel looks forward to many more successful events in Dubai.
Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager of Dubai Autodrome, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of hosting the fourth round and its contribution to the development of young drivers. The event's success reflects Dubai Kartdrome's commitment to becoming a breeding ground for motorsport's future stars.
