Kuwait’s Agility Global Strengthens Educational Access For 2,000 Refugees In Egypt with UNHCR
In a significant move to bolster refugee education in Egypt, Agility Global has teamed up with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kuwait. This collaboration is set to enable over 2,000 refugee students to pursue their education during the 2025-2026 academic year by funding their registration fees and other academic expenses.
This initiative is anticipated to foster personal growth of refugees, aid in their societal integration, enhance social harmony, and open up avenues for promising future prospects.
Nisreen Rabian, UNHCR Representative in Kuwait, remarked on the importance of this partnership, highlighting it as an act of unity during a period when the global forcibly displaced population has soared to a staggering 122.1 million.
"This partnership with Agility Global represents more than just financial support. It is an act of solidarity at a time when the number of forcibly displaced people around the world has reached an unprecedented level, reaching 122.1 million," she elucidated.
Rabian emphasized the crucial role the private sector plays in transforming and bettering the lives of refugees, praising the collaboration with Agility Global as a prime example of how strategic alliances can create real opportunities for society's most vulnerable, particularly through educational initiatives.

Tarek Sultan, Chairman of Agility Global, shared his insights, stating, "Our contribution aims to address the challenges facing displaced families affected by conflict and persecution by providing educational opportunities for their children." He believes that equipping these children with essential knowledge and skills will not only prepare them for a brighter future but also enable them to contribute positively to their host communities and, eventually, to the rebuilding of their native lands upon their return.
Egypt has become a critical transit and destination hub for refugees and asylum seekers, particularly in light of the conflict in Sudan that erupted in April 2023. The ensuing months saw a significant influx of Sudanese refugees into Egypt, with figures surpassing 1.2 million, as reported by the Egyptian authorities.
By February 4, 2025, the UNHCR in Egypt had registered approximately 905,000 individuals, with the majority hailing from Sudan, Syria, South Sudan, and Eritrea. This figure represents a more than threefold increase since the onset of the Sudanese conflict, with new arrivals from Sudan alone accounting for 572,000, the majority being women and children.
Agility's commitment to supporting UNHCR spans over 16 years, during which it has contributed to various humanitarian programs across Lebanon, Jordan, Malaysia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uganda. This long-standing partnership underscores Agility's dedication to humanitarian causes, particularly in aiding displaced individuals and communities affected by conflict and persecution.
