ZainTECH Partners with King Khalid University to Launch Applied Drone Education to Power Saudi Vision 2030
ZainTECH has delivered a five-day drone technology course with King Khalid University and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Saudi Arabia, giving university students practical skills that support Vision 2030 and the Kingdom's wider digital transformation, as part of King Khalid University's "Explore Innovate Disrupt" Tech Camp in Abha.
Titled "Drones & Robotics for Tomorrow's Leaders", the programme introduces participants to drone technology basics, real-world case studies, use case design, and hands-on demonstrations. The course targets King Khalid University students from computer science and related disciplines, aiming to build confidence with drones and robotics as disruptive emerging technologies that increasingly influence industry and government projects.

The initiative follows a partnership announced in February 2025 between ZainTECH, King Khalid University and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Through this collaboration, ZainTECH extends its regional efforts to support education providers with applied digital learning, while also backing Saudi Arabia's plans to expand local talent and strengthen the digital economy under Vision 2030.
"This collaboration with King Khalid University and MCIT reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing the Kingdom's digital future." said Andrew Hanna, CEO of ZainTECH. "This program is about more than just learning how drones work, it's about helping students understand the transformative potential of emerging technologies in shaping future industries, communities, and careers. As part of our long-term engagement in Saudi Arabia, we're contributing to Vision 2030 by equipping young talent with critical skills and supporting national efforts to build a knowledge-driven economy."
Specialists from ZainTECH's Drones and Robotics unit lead the sessions at King Khalid University's Abha campus in late July, combining theory with interactive demonstrations. Content is tailored to students who already have computing knowledge, enabling deeper discussion of software, data, safety, and deployment, while encouraging teams to design practical drone and robotics use cases for local needs.

Dr. Areej Al-Asiry, Dean of the College of Computer Science at King Khalid University, commented: "We are delighted to partner with ZainTECH and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to bring this valuable learning experience to our students. This partnership reflects the university's commitment to being a national leader in digital transformation and its ongoing efforts to align academic programs with the Kingdom's strategic vision. By bridging the gap between academia and industry, we aim not only to equip our students with practical tools and insights but also to contribute to building a knowledge-based, tech-driven economy."
This drone technology course is presented as an important step for ZainTECH, King Khalid University and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, strengthening cooperation between academic, public and private sectors. By combining technical expertise with national goals, the programme supports future innovators in Saudi Arabia and helps advance plans for a knowledge-based, tech-driven economy under Vision 2030.
