Midad Initiative Opens Accessible Pathway Into Teaching In Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has introduced Midad, a flexible entry-level teacher training programme aimed at preparing motivated individuals to step into classrooms across Abu Dhabi’s private and charter schools. The initiative supports ADEK’s revamped teacher talent strategy and its focus on raising educational calibre and standards.

Midad begins with a four-week bootcamp delivered through a self-paced model, creating an accessible pathway into the teaching profession. Open to UAE nationals and long-term residents, the programme targets participants with varied professional backgrounds and a strong understanding of UAE values, enabling them to contribute practical insights to classroom learning.

The programme is also positioned as an option for parents seeking to engage more deeply with their children’s education and development. By equipping them with fundamental teaching skills, Midad allows parents and other participants to better support learning processes while gaining structured exposure to classroom practices and expectations.

During the bootcamp, participants are introduced to core principles of effective teaching. The curriculum covers classroom management, teaching methodologies, responding to diverse student needs, integrating technology and AI into learning, and strengthening UAE national identity and values, aligning training content with key priorities of Abu Dhabi’s education ecosystem.

On completing the bootcamp, participants can apply their new skills in part-time teaching roles while advancing through further pathways and formal teaching qualifications. This structure allows individuals to enter classrooms relatively quickly, gaining practical experience as they continue their professional development in education.

High-performing participants will be invited to apply to Kon Moallim Cohort 2, ADEK’s flagship programme that offers a fully sponsored postgraduate diploma in education. ADEK states that this approach expands and diversifies the educator pool, ensuring students benefit from relevant and enriching learning experiences aligned with Abu Dhabi’s ongoing drive for excellence in education.
