Ramadan: UAE Ministry Of Education Announces Shift To Remote Learning For Students On Fridays
In alignment with the vision of the UAE leadership to foster a nurturing family and community atmosphere during Ramadan, the Ministry of Education has unveiled the 'Ramadan with Family' programme, according to WAM report.
This initiative is designed to bolster family ties and instill the essence of Ramadan in young individuals by transitioning public school students to remote learning on Fridays throughout the Holy Month. This arrangement encourages participation in family-oriented and religious activities at home, thereby enhancing the spiritual and cultural experience of Ramadan.

In preparation for this shift, the Ministry has developed a comprehensive guidance manual for students and parents opting for the remote learning setup on these specific Fridays. This manual is crafted to facilitate a productive and spiritually rewarding experience, offering a range of activities and resources that align with the educational objectives and the cultural significance of Ramadan. It encompasses both curriculum-related content and religious activities aimed at fostering students' academic and moral development during the Holy Month.
Starting from the first Friday of Ramadan, the 'Ramadan with Family' initiative will be in effect, with an exception for students who have exams scheduled on Fridays. These exams will proceed in-person according to the pre-set timetable, ensuring that the academic schedule remains uninterrupted.
This balanced approach underscores the Ministry's commitment to facilitating a productive and spiritually enriching Ramadan while accommodating the academic needs of all students.
The initiative stands as part of broader efforts to nurture social cohesion and spiritual growth during this significant period. It ensures that students can immerse themselves fully in the values of Ramadan, spending more time with family and engaging in constructive activities that promote their personal and educational growth.
Despite this shift to remote learning for students on Fridays, the initiative specifies that teaching staff will still report to schools as normal during Ramadan. This ensures that educational standards are maintained, and students who, for various reasons, need to attend school physically can do so under the supervision of their teachers.
Parents who wish for their children to attend school on these days are responsible for arranging transportation. This flexible approach guarantees that all students continue to receive support and guidance in their studies, irrespective of their learning environment.
