Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Launches National Identity Clubs In UAE's Educational Institutions

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, has announced the creation of National Identity Clubs in educational institutions across the UAE. This initiative aligns with Sandooq Al Watan's mission to nurture a robust national identity rooted in empowerment and responsibility. Sheikh Nahyan highlighted that this move reflects President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision, which emphasises pride in the unique characteristics and values of Emirati society.

During the closing ceremony of Sandooq Al Watan's summer programmes, Sheikh Nahyan honoured outstanding students and educators, distributing medals of excellence to participating schools and universities. The event also featured presentations on the objectives and operations of these clubs, along with discussions on their annual activities and organisational structure. Over 500 students, teachers, and university professors attended, including Yasser Al Gergawi, Director General of Sandooq Al Watan.

Sheikh Nahyan welcomed participants from educational institutions involved in national identity programmes. He announced a new phase aimed at further strengthening national identity by establishing clubs in every school, college, and university. These clubs will showcase students' abilities and enthusiasm throughout the academic year, demonstrating their commitment to serving their country and aligning with its goals.

The Minister expressed gratitude to President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his leadership. "We promise to dedicate all our efforts and energy to empowering students," he stated. The aim is for students to take pride in their country's history and culture while contributing actively to global development.

Sheikh Nahyan emphasised that National Identity Clubs will embody teamwork virtues by establishing effective communication channels and setting clear goals. These clubs aim to enrich students' lives by developing critical thinking, initiative, and decision-making skills within a framework of shared understanding and positive behaviour standards.

The clubs will focus on providing opportunities for students to serve themselves, their community, and the world. They aim to develop leadership skills while instilling values such as generosity, integrity, responsibility, courage, loyalty, tolerance, self-confidence, love for their country, and trust in its future.

Community Initiatives

The National Identity Clubs will promote initiatives that benefit society by enhancing educational environments and preserving nature. They will organise events focused on quality-of-life programmes like anti-obesity campaigns and tech education. Upcoming efforts include volunteering in schools and healthcare facilities nationwide.

Sheikh Nahyan hopes these clubs will nurture the Arabic language while promoting culture and arts. They are intended as platforms for youth enthusiasm in volunteering, public service, and research on UAE national identity.

Awards Programme

Sandooq Al Watan plans to launch a grants and awards programme in collaboration with community institutions. This initiative aims to honour excellence while supporting National Identity Clubs across the country. The programme seeks to encourage participation from both male and female students nationwide.

The number of participants in Sandooq Al Watan's summer programmes reached approximately 24,000 this year. This figure is expected to grow annually until it encompasses most students across all educational institutions in the UAE.
