Cognita Middle East Expands Educational Footprint With New Schools In Saudi Arabia, Oman, And Qatar
Cognita Middle East (Cognita ME), the regional branch of a leading global schools group, has recently announced a significant growth strategy that involves forming strategic alliances with five schools, thereby extending its educational reach into Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar.
Through these alliances, Cognita ME will manage a total of 14 schools within the Middle East, adding to its already established network of nine schools in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. This network includes prestigious institutions such as the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai and the Repton Family of Schools among others.

This expansion results in Cognita ME overseeing the education of nearly 22,000 students and employing around 4,000 staff members, demonstrating a substantial increase in its scale of operations within the region.
David Baldwin, CEO of Cognita Middle East, stated, "This expansion marks an exciting new chapter for Cognita, strengthening our presence in the Middle East and building on the foundations we've established in the UAE and Kuwait. As we grow into Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar, our focus remains on delivering an exceptional education that meets the needs of each community.
"Every Cognita school has its own unique identity, ethos, and curriculum, shaped by its students and families. We are committed to preserving the individuality of each school while sharing a collective ambition - to create inspiring learning environments that build confidence and help every student realise their full potential."
The strategic partnerships in Saudi Arabia involve Downe House Riyadh and King's College Riyadh, both pioneering institutions under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City's International Schools Attraction Programme. Downe House Riyadh, established in 2022, is recognized for being the first premier British school for girls in the country, focusing on academic achievement and the well-being of its students. King's College Riyadh, on the other hand, is the first British private school in Saudi Arabia, drawing on a tradition of 140 years of educational excellence from its UK counterpart.
In Oman, the collaboration includes Downe House Muscat and Cheltenham Muscat. Downe House Muscat, the first British international school for girls in Oman, and Cheltenham Muscat, the first premium co-educational British international school in the country, both bring over a century of educational expertise from their UK sister schools. Their remarkable achievements, including exceptional GCSE results and top marks in the Pearson Learner Awards, highlight the schools' commitment to academic excellence.
Cognita ME's venture into Qatar is marked by its partnership with King's College Doha, a reputed school offering a British curriculum. In 2024, the school showcased outstanding GCSE results, with a significant portion of its students achieving top grades, further solidifying its reputation for excellence in teaching and learning.
