Al Qasimia University Introduces First Master's Programmes In Arabic Language And Jurisprudence For 2025-2026
Al Qasimia University (AQU) is set to introduce two new Master's programmes in the 2025–2026 academic year. These are Arabic Language and Literature at the College of Arts and Humanities, and Jurisprudence and its Principles at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies. This initiative follows the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, aiming to support global graduates and researchers in their postgraduate pursuits.
The university's postgraduate offerings have garnered significant interest globally. A total of 1,343 individuals applied, with 468 for Arabic Language and Literature and 873 for Jurisprudence and its Principles. After meeting admission criteria and completing interviews, AQU admitted 30 students from 20 nationalities into its College of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.

Professor Dr. Awad Al Khalaf, Chancellor of AQU, highlighted that these programmes mark a strategic milestone in the university's pursuit of academic excellence. He acknowledged Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's visionary leadership, which has elevated AQU to a prominent global standing among higher education institutions.
The Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the UAE has accredited these master's programmes. They are the first such programmes since AQU's inception. The curriculum includes 33 credit hours split between required and optional courses, ending with a specialised thesis.
The Arabic Language and Literature programme aims to develop academic skills in exploring linguistic heritage while embracing modern research methods. It is particularly beneficial for non-native Arabic speakers. Meanwhile, the Jurisprudence programme focuses on Islamic knowledge using a robust scientific approach, addressing emerging issues and Islamic objectives.
Dr. Al Khalaf urged students to seize this unique academic opportunity that broadens horizons for research, innovation, and professional growth. The evening schedule accommodates more researchers and professionals seeking advanced studies.
These programmes prepare graduates to contribute significantly to fields like fatwa issuance, judiciary roles, and academic research. They also help spread Islamic moderation and promote the Arabic language globally.
