Yami Gautam Reflects On Evolving Film Choices After Article 370 Success At IFFI 2024

Yami Gautam has become a leading figure in Bollywood by choosing roles that showcase strong, complex characters. In an interview with The Telegraph, Yami Gautam discussed her evolving approach to film selection. As a new mother, she emphasised the importance of personal and professional growth. She believes her choices should reflect this progress.

Yami Gautam Discusses Film Choices Post Article 370

The actress stated, "After Article 370, my expectations from myself have to go up. It cannot be what it was three years back. It's all about growth. Am I doing that? Is that film allowing me to do that? So, that's my first and foremost thought. And then, of course, the director of the film. I like to have a candid conversation with the director about how he/she came up with the idea and his/her intent. And I'm honest with my feedback."

Yami shared her respect for writers and directors in filmmaking. She noted their significant role in shaping a movie's success. "I have a lot of respect for writers," she said. "I am married to one, so I know what it takes to write a film." She enjoys reading scripts and is curious about the technical team behind cinematography, editing, music, and sound design.

Her career began with Shoojit Sircar's 'Vicky Donor,' where she made a memorable debut. Since then, Yami has delivered stellar performances in films like 'A Thursday,' 'Bala,' 'Uri: The Surgical Strike,' 'OMG 2,' and Article 370. These projects combine entertainment with meaningful narratives.

Yami's film Article 370 was screened at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2024) in Goa. This marked a significant achievement for her as she continues her successful journey in Bollywood.

In June 2021, Yami married Aditya Dhar, director of Uri: The Surgical Strike. They welcomed their first child, Vedavid, in May this year.
