Vidya Balan's Inspiring Journey: From 'Jinxed' Actress To National Award Winner
Vidya Balan, a celebrated National Award-winning actress, has had an inspiring journey in Indian cinema. Despite facing numerous challenges, she rose to prominence from her beginnings in television. Her story is one of perseverance and determination, making her an inspiration to many. Vidya hails from a Tamil-Brahmin family and has become a significant figure in the film industry.
Vidya's acting career began at 16 with the sitcom 'Hum Paanch'. She aspired to transition to films and signed a Malayalam movie with Mohanlal. However, when this debut project was shelved, she lost several other film offers. Producers labelled her 'jinxed' and 'unlucky', impacting her early career significantly.

In an interview, Vidya shared her struggles: "In the South, for one and a half years, no matter what I did, it never seemed to materialize. I was labelled 'jinxed' after signing two major Malayalam films, both of which were halted midway, with 50% of the shooting already completed."
She further explained how being replaced affected her confidence: "When I first did my feature film with Mohanlal in Malayalam, I received 7-8 film offers after my first schedule. The only problem was that the film got shelved after the first schedule. Not only did the film get shelved, but I was also replaced in all the other films. I was labelled jinxed after that. My confidence was deeply affected when I was replaced in all those films. I was even thrown out of a very big Tamil film at the time."
Throughout much of her career, Vidya faced body-shaming due to her physique. She revealed that producers often asked her to lose weight before starting new projects. This pressure came despite her dealing with health issues that made weight loss difficult.
Currently, Vidya is enjoying success with 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'. Her portrayal of 'Manjulika' has earned widespread acclaim in Kartik's film. Her resilience and talent continue to shine through as she receives praise for her performance.
