"To be very honest, I really felt like calling Katrina and telling her. So many of the outfits reminded me of my wedding because of the things she wanted particularly. I was like 'This! I spotted that and that!' Katrina is currently on a flight, I'll tell her eventually. Thank you for making me a small part of this beautiful show," Vicky said at the post-show press conference here.
The grand finale saw Vicky looking dapper in a beige-coloured buttoned-up Benaras brocade sherwani paired with straight pants. Rashmika Mandanna exuded elegance in an ivory lehenga-choli adorned with pearl embellishments and intricate embroidery. She expressed gratitude to the designers for their creations, saying she felt like an Indian princess wearing their garment.
"I felt like an Indian princess wearing a (garment by) Falguni Shane Peacock. I feel beautiful, gorgeous, confident and super comfortable in it. I think that's what fashion's about," Rashmika added.
The event marked a special occasion for Falguni Shane Peacock as they celebrated their fashion label's twentieth anniversary by showcasing "Rang Mahal". Despite heavy rains in New Delhi on Wednesday night, guests and media attended to witness this milestone event.
The designers were thrilled to celebrate their brand's anniversary with this collection. They stated that "Rang Mahal is more than just a collection." It pays homage to artisans and storytellers preserving India's cultural legacy through fashion.
Cultural Inspirations
"Rang Mahal", inspired by India's royal heritage, featured traditional symbols such as Taj Mahal motifs and peacocks. This haute couture collection included sarees and lehenga sarees for women and sherwanis for men.
This was also their first time working with Indian weaves and textiles. Luxurious Kanjeevaram silks woven with real gold and silver zari threads were prominently featured alongside rich velvets and Chikankari embroideries.
Musical Performances
The finale began with contemporary dancers performing to a live sitar rendition of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love". The Bombay Choir maintained high energy throughout with tracks from "Game of Thrones", AR Rahman's patriotic songs like "Maa Tujhe Salaam", love ballads from Bollywood films, and Amir Khusro's ghazals.
The Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week commenced on July 24th and concluded with this grand showcase by Falguni Shane Peacock.
