Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 5: Rajinikanth's Film Experiences Notable Decline

Rajinikanth's fans are overjoyed with his latest film, Vettaiyan. This action drama, directed by T. J. Gnanavel, marks Rajinikanth's first release of the year. The film features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Abhirami, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, Rao Ramesh, and Ramesh Thilak.

The movie has generated significant excitement due to Rajinikanth's reunion with Amitabh Bachchan after more than 30 years. Their last collaboration was in the 1991 hit film Hum, where they played stepbrothers alongside Govinda. In Vettaiyan, both actors portray police officers battling against Rana Daggubati's antagonist character. The film opened to a positive response at the box office.

Vettaiyan started its journey with an opening day collection of Rs 60 lakhs in the Hindi market. Over the weekend, the numbers increased slightly with Rs 65 lakhs collected on both Saturday and Sunday. However, Monday saw a significant drop in earnings as it only managed to collect Rs 22 lakhs on its fifth day in the Hindi market. This brought the total collection to Rs 2.52 crores.

Vettaiyan is often compared to Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), which is this year's biggest Tamil release. Unfortunately for Rajinikanth's film, it has not surpassed GOAT since its release. On its first Monday in the Hindi market, GOAT maintained a strong collection of Rs 90 lakhs.

Box Office Competition

Currently, Vettaiyan faces competition from Alia Bhatt's Jigra and Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri in the Hindi market. It remains to be seen if Vettaiyan can outperform these films at the box office in the coming days.
