Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 1: Rajinikanth's Film Falls Short Of Expectations In Hindi Market
Rajinikanth's film, Vettaiyan, has been a major release this year for several reasons. It is his first full movie of the year, following a cameo in Lal Salaam. Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, it also marks Amitabh Bachchan's debut in Tamil cinema and reunites him with Rajinikanth after over 30 years. This action drama was highly anticipated by audiences.
Vettaiyan features an ensemble cast including Manju Warrier, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami, and Ramesh Thilak. The film showcases Rajinikanth and Amitabh as police officers. Released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages, it received positive reviews from critics and viewers alike. There has been much speculation about its box office performance.

Vettaiyan has drawn comparisons with Rajinikanth's 2023 film Jailer and Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT). While it surpassed Jailer's Rs 35 lakhs on the first day, Vettaiyan couldn't beat GOAT's opening day collection of Rs 1.85 crores in the Hindi market.
Sacnilk reported that Vettaiyan had a slow start in the Hindi market despite positive reviews. On its opening day, the film earned Rs 60 lakhs but did not reach the Rs 1 crore mark.
The initial box office performance of Vettaiyan highlights the challenges even highly anticipated films face in meeting expectations. Despite strong reviews and a star-studded cast, competition from other films can impact earnings significantly.
