Tumbbad Surpasses The Buckingham Murders In Box Office Showdown

Tumbbad vs The Buckingham Murders Box Office Collection Day 2: This month, the Indian box office saw an intriguing clash between two films. Kareena Kapoor Khan's latest release, The Buckingham Murders, and Sohum Shah's re-released Tumbbad are competing head-to-head. Despite their different genres, both films have generated significant buzz and are challenging each other at the box office.

For those unfamiliar, Tumbbad is a folk horror film that originally came out in 2018. It stars Sohum Shah, Rudra Soni, Harsh K., and Anita Date-Kelkar. In contrast, The Buckingham Murders, directed by Hansal Mehta, features Kareena Kapoor Khan as a British Indian detective investigating the murder of a 10-year-old child in Buckinghamshire.

Tumbbad Leads Box Office Race

Tumbbad had an impressive re-release opening at the box office, earning Rs 1.5 crores on its first day—more than double its original collection. Meanwhile, The Buckingham Murders, co-produced by Kareena Kapoor Khan, had a slower start with Rs 1.15 crores on its opening day. Clearly, Tumbbad outperformed The Buckingham Murders on their respective first days.

The competition continued into the second day of release. Media reports indicate that Tumbbad experienced a 45% increase in earnings on its first Saturday, bringing in Rs 2.20 crores and raising its total to Rs 3.70 crores. On the same day, Sacnilk reported that The Buckingham Murders earned Rs 1.9 crores, taking its overall collection to Rs 3.05 crores.

Despite the ongoing competition at the box office, Tumbbad maintains its lead over The Buckingham Murders. With Tumbbad's total earnings reaching Rs 3.70 crores compared to The Buckingham Murders' Rs 3.05 crores by the end of their second day of release, it remains to be seen if Kareena Kapoor Khan's film will gain momentum in the coming days.

In light of Tumbbad's remarkable reception, Sohum Shah has announced a sequel titled Tumbbad 2. An intriguing teaser has been released featuring characters Vinayak and his son Pandurang with Sohum Shah's voiceover stating: "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega...darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega."

The ongoing battle between these two films has captivated audiences and critics alike. Both movies have distinct narratives and strong performances that continue to draw viewers to theatres.
