Tumbbad Box Office Collection Day 5: Sohum Shah's Film Surpasses Rs 10 Crores Post Re-Release

Sohum Shah's film, Tumbbad, is making a significant impact at the box office following its recent re-release. Originally released in 2018, this folk horror drama has captivated audiences once again. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, the movie stars Rudra Soni, Harsh K, and Anita Date-Kelkar alongside Sohum Shah. It has received enthusiastic reviews from viewers.

The storyline of Tumbbad, penned by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, and Rahi Anil Barve, delves into the eerie tale of a village cursed with endless rain due to worshipping the demon God Hastar. The plot also explores a Konkanastha Brahmin family's cursed ancestral wealth. The film's gripping narrative has left audiences spellbound and earned Rs 1.65 crores on its opening day.

Despite facing competition from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 and Kareena Kapoor Khan's The Buckingham Murders, Tumbbad remains resilient. While it has outperformed The Buckingham Murders, it continues to challenge Stree 2 at the box office.

After an impressive start during its opening weekend, Tumbbad has maintained steady earnings despite a slight dip in numbers. According to Sacnilk reports, the film collected Rs 1.68 crores on its first Monday (day 4) and Rs 1.66 crores on its first Tuesday (day 5), bringing its total earnings to Rs 10.69 crores.

The overwhelming response to Tumbbad has prompted Sohum Shah to announce a sequel titled Tumbbad 2. A teaser featuring characters Vinayak and his son Pandurang was released with Sohum Shah's voiceover stating, "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega...darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega".
