The Buckingham Murders Vs Tumbbad Box Office Collection Day 1: Following the massive success of 'Crew', Kareena Kapoor Khan returns to theatres with her latest film, 'The Buckingham Murders'. This investigative crime-drama premiered on 13th September 2024. Interestingly, Sohum Shah's cult-classic horror-thriller 'Tumbbad' also re-released on the same day. Surprisingly, Sohum's film outperformed Kareena's on its opening day.

Directed by Hansal Mehta, The Buckingham Murders marks Kareena Kapoor Khan's debut as a producer. She co-produced the film alongside Ektaa R. Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms. The plot revolves around a grieving cop, portrayed by Kareena, who relocates after losing her son and is assigned to investigate a child's disappearance.

The movie had a slow start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, The Buckingham Murders collected Rs 1.15 crore on its opening day (early estimates), making it the actress's lowest opener in the past 15 years.

Directed by Rahi Anil Barve and starring Sohum Shah, Tumbbad had an unexpected strong start at the box office on its re-release day. As reported by the makers, this epic horror-thriller earned Rs 1.65 crore on its opening day of re-release.

The film originally released in October 2018 and was initially a box office flop. However, over time it gained cult-classic status. Back in 2018, it had earned Rs 65 lakhs on its first day.
