Top Bollywood Films To Watch In 2025: From Salman Khan’s Sikandar To War 2 And More
As 2024 draws to a close, the film industry is looking forward to a more promising 2025. Salman Khan's "Sikandar" is highly anticipated and expected to draw audiences back to cinemas. Scheduled for an Eid release in March, this film is among several that are hoped to boost box office numbers. Other notable releases include Kangana Ranaut's "Emergency," Akshay Kumar's "Sky Force," Shahid Kapoor's "Deva," and Vicky Kaushal's "Chhaava."
The latter half of 2025 promises an exciting array of sequels and new films. Audiences can expect titles like "Jolly LLB 3," "Raid 2," "Housefull 5," and "War 2." Additionally, Varun Dhawan will star in a romantic comedy directed by his father, David Dhawan. Shahid Kapoor will feature in an action film by Vishal Bhardwaj, while Kajol takes on a horror-thriller role.

Akshay Rathi, a distributor-exhibitor with theatres across several states, believes movies like "Sikandar," "Sky Force," and "Chhaava" could break box office records. He emphasises the need for consistent blockbusters throughout the year rather than relying on just a few hits. The potential for mega-blockbusters in 2025 appears higher compared to the previous year.
In contrast, 2024 was sustained mainly by films like "Pushpa 2" and "Stree 2." The latter was the year's biggest hit, earning over Rs 500 crores. Other releases such as "Singham Again" and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3" performed decently but did not reach blockbuster status.
Nitin Datar from the Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India shares optimism about the upcoming year. He looks forward to releases like "Sikandar," "Housefull 5," and "Jolly LLB 3." Amit Sharma of Miraj Entertainment Limited predicts that Hindi films in 2025 could see a 15-20% increase in collections compared to last year.
Taran Adarsh acknowledges the risk of franchise fatigue but remains hopeful about their success. He notes that while there may be an abundance of sequels, each has the potential for commercial success if executed well.
The Importance of Quality Content
Girish Wankhede anticipates Salman Khan's "Sikandar" setting the tone for an eventful year. Aamir Khan's "Sitaare Zameen Par" is also expected mid-year. Wankhede highlights that both Bollywood and South Indian cinema will offer numerous sequels featuring stellar casts.
Taran Adarsh stresses the importance of focusing on original content rather than remakes of South Indian films. He points out that audiences have access to digital platforms where they can view original versions, reducing interest in remakes.
The film industry seems poised for a better year ahead with diverse offerings lined up for release. With lessons learned from past experiences, there is hope that quality content will drive audience engagement and box office success in 2025.
