The Roshans: Hrithik Roshan Reflects On Family Legacy In Upcoming Netflix Docu-Series

Bollywood icon Hrithik Roshan recently expressed his initial discomfort with the upcoming docu-series "The Roshans." He felt uneasy about the attention it might bring. However, he soon realised that the series would delve into his family's legacy, potentially inspiring many others.

The Netflix series, set to release on January 17, explores the Roshan family's journey through three generations. It highlights their significant contributions to Hindi cinema. The series begins with Hrithik's grandfather, Roshan Lal Nagrath, and follows his father Rakesh Roshan and uncle Rajesh Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan on Family Legacy in Docu-Series

Hrithik made his debut in "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai," directed by his father Rakesh Roshan. He shared that the documentary chronicles his family's stories and struggles. This includes his musician uncle Rajesh and late grandfather Roshan, a music maestro. "When my father said that he wanted to make this documentary, I first felt embarrassed. I don't like attention. Then I realised, 'No, this is not about me. It's not about me at all.' This is about history," Hrithik mentioned at the trailer launch event.

Hrithik hopes the documentary will inspire others, especially cinema students and global audiences. He believes that learning about others' journeys can provide motivation when facing life's challenges. "If it does that, then that would be the celebration for the documentary," he added.

Rakesh Roshan began as an actor in films like "Khubsoorat" and later directed hits such as "Khoon Bhari Maang" and the "Krish" series. He emphasised how rare it is for three generations of a family to contribute significantly to the industry. "There are very few families in this industry where three generations have contributed," he noted.

The documentary will showcase these contributions from Rakesh's father to Hrithik's generation. It aims to highlight their impact on Indian entertainment as directors, musicians, and actors.

Rajesh Roshan's Reluctance

Unlike his brother Rakesh and nephew Hrithik, music composer Rajesh Roshan was initially against participating in the documentary. He described himself as shy and hesitant to share his simple life publicly. However, Rakesh convinced him otherwise. "I am in the Roshan family but I think a little differently... But he got hold of my collar and said, 'Sit down. Let's start the documentary'," Rajesh shared.

The docu-series is directed by Shashi Ranjan alongside co-producer Rakesh Roshan. It features candid interviews with industry peers who offer insights into the Roshan legacy.

This intimate portrayal of their lives aims to inspire viewers by showcasing passion and dedication across generations within one family.
