The Night Manager Featuring Anil Kapoor Nominated For 2024 International Emmy Awards In Drama Series Category
The Indian adaptation of "The Night Manager," featuring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, has been nominated for the drama series category at the 2024 International Emmy Awards. This series is India's sole entry among 14 categories announced by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in New York. Directed by Sandeep Modi and Priyanka Ghose, it draws inspiration from John le Carre's novel and the British series starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Colman.
"The Night Manager" will face competition from France's "Les Gouttes de Dieu" (Drops of God), Australia's "The Newsreader - Season 2," and Argentina's "Iosi, El Espia Arrepentido" season two. Anil Kapoor, who portrayed antagonist Shelly Rungta, expressed his excitement about the nomination. He stated that this recognition is a "worthy reminder" that hard work pays off. "It's just been brought to my attention that our Indian adaptation of 'The Night Manager' has been nominated for an International Emmy," he said.

Kapoor recalled feeling conflicted when offered the role due to its complexity and the responsibility of adding authenticity to a character previously played by Hugh Laurie. He added, "This validation from the Emmys, in addition to the tremendous love that we have received from fans worldwide, is a worthy reminder that hard work always pays.. I am ecstatic and hungrier than ever before for what's to come."
The International Emmys will take place in New York on November 25, hosted by Indian comedian Vir Das, who won an award last year for his stand-up special "Landing." Nominees hail from various countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, India, Chile, Colombia, France, Japan, and Germany. Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy said: "Every year the international television community competes to be recognized on the International Emmys' much coveted global stage."
Paisner further commented on the nominees: "We congratulate the Nominees for their outstanding programs and performances; they are once again a testament to the universal appeal of great storytelling across all genres, countries and cultures." The awards feature categories such as best performance by an actor or actress, comedy series, documentary films, non-scripted entertainment shows, short-form series productions, sports documentaries, telenovelas, TV movies or mini-series formats.
Additional categories include kids' programming like animation series, factual content aimed at children as well as live-action shows designed specifically for younger audiences. These diverse categories highlight excellence in various aspects of television production worldwide.
