Thangalaan's Hindi Box Office Prospects: Vikram's Market Challenge

Thangalaan Hindi Box Office Collection: Pa Ranjith's Tamil film Thangalaan, featuring Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy, and Malavika Mohanan, hit theatres on 15th August 2024. The movie garnered positive reviews but had a mixed box office response. Now, the Hindi dubbed version is set to release on 30th August 2024.

Chiyaan Vikram is a well-known figure in Tamil cinema. However, his popularity in the Hindi market is limited. His previous films, Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 and Part 2, were dubbed in Hindi. While Part 1 had an average performance with Rs. 25 crore, Part 2 flopped with Rs. 14 crore.

In its first 11 days, Thangalaan collected Rs. 42.65 crore from Tamil and Telugu versions combined. This figure is considered average. It remains to be seen if the Hindi version will improve the overall box office numbers.

The actor's earlier Hindi releases have not fared well either. His 2015 film I (Hindi Version) earned Rs. 11.22 crore, which was mediocre at best. Similarly, David, a bilingual film in Hindi and Tamil, also failed to impress at the box office.

Despite receiving positive reviews for his films, Chiyaan Vikram has struggled to make a significant impact in the Hindi market through dubbed versions of his movies.

The trailer for Thangalaan's Hindi version has received a decent response. Fans are curious to see if this film will finally help Chiyaan Vikram establish a stronger presence in the Hindi market.

Two prominent names that drew audiences to theatres for Ponniyin Selvan were Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mani Ratnam. Their involvement played a crucial role in attracting viewers despite the mixed performance of the films.

The upcoming release of Thangalaan's Hindi version could be pivotal for Chiyaan Vikram's career in Bollywood. It will be interesting to observe whether this film can break the trend of underperformance for his Hindi dubbed movies.
