From Content Creation To Bollywood: Taran Singh's Cinematic Journey

Taran Singh On His Journey From Content Creation To Bollywood Debut: Content creator and Rajasthan Royals' 'Water Boy' Taran Singh makes his Bollywood debut with the Friday release, 'Munjya'. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, 'Munjya' is based on a supernatural creature from Maharashtrian folklore. The film is part of the Stree and Bhediya universe, a horror-comedy franchise by Maddock Films. The cast includes Sharvari, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and Taran Singh.

Taran Singh, known for his comedy content, plays Spielberg, the best friend of Bittu (played by Abhay Verma).

Taran Singh's Bollywood Leap

Ahead of his Bollywood debut, the Punjabi munda engaged in an exclusive chat with Filmibeat to discuss his journey from content creation to Bollywood.

Taran Singh enjoys a significant following on Instagram. When asked about his move to Bollywood, Taran said, "Of course, everyone's dream is to be a part of Bollywood. However, my main motive was never Bollywood; I always wanted to build my career as a content creator. That said, Bollywood was always in the back of my mind, and this opportunity came as a by-product of my role as a content creator."

During the exclusive chat, Taran Singh discussed his journey and passion for content creation. He said, "When I started in 2019, I thought I would be a YouTuber. I grew up watching TVF and AIB videos and wanted to do something similar. I started my internship with TVF, then COVID hit, so I had to return home. During this time, I experimented with content and posted extensively on my page. As times improved, I got a job opportunity with Radio Mirchi Delhi to create content for them for six months. The rest is history; I'm happy with how my journey has turned out."

Taran Singh On How His Content Helped Him Bag His Debut Film Munjya

Taran is mostly known for his funny videos. When asked if his comedy skills helped him play Spielberg in 'Munjya', he replied, "This is an interesting question. The truth is I got selected for the role because of my reels and the content I posted on Instagram. Anmol sir, the casting director, and his team told me that my comic timing and the face they envisioned for the character matched what they saw in my content."

He added, "During filming, I learned that acting for social media versus acting for movies is completely different. From the placement of your left hand to your right foot in a scene and the right lighting—everything matters while shooting a movie. I'm extremely grateful for my role and couldn't have asked for a better project or team to work with. 'Munjya' has been a great learning experience."

'Munjya' is now in cinemas... Watch the horror-comedy this weekend in theatres.
