Stree 2 Continues Winning Streak, Crosses Rs 275Cr Mark In First Week

Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are celebrating the success of their latest film, Stree 2. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this horror comedy has been a hit since its release. The movie also stars Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi. It is the fifth installment in Maddock Supernatural Universe, following Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya.

Stree 2 opened to positive reviews from both audiences and critics. The film had a strong start with Rs 60.3 crores on its first day, including paid previews. Despite a decline in numbers after the first Monday, it maintained a solid performance at the box office. By the end of its opening weekend, Stree 2 had already crossed the Rs 190 crores mark.

Remarkably, Stree 2 has surpassed KGF Chapter 2's first-week collection in the Hindi market. KGF Chapter 2 had earned Rs 268.63 crores in its first week. Stree 2 not only recorded the eighth highest day-seven collection ever but also achieved the fifth highest week-one collection.

Sacnilk reports that Stree 2 earned Rs 38.1 crores on its first Monday (day five) and Rs 25.8 crores on its first Tuesday (day six). On its first Wednesday (day seven), it collected Rs 20 crores. This brought the total earnings for the first week to Rs 275.35 crores.

The film also featured cameos by Varun Dhawan, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Akshay Kumar. These appearances added to the excitement surrounding the movie's release. The anticipation was high due to the success of the original Stree in 2018.

Director Amar Kaushik expressed his surprise at the film's success in an interview with Connect Cine: "I didn't expect this big response. I think the audience wants such films to come out. Where ever I would go, people kept asking me 'What is the end of Stree?' This film was made on public demand." He added that they took their time with this sequel to ensure it met audience expectations.

Kaushik further mentioned that they realised how well the film resonated with people when they released the trailer and saw advance ticket sales: "We thought it clicked well with the public when we released the trailer but when we opened the advance ticket sale, we were like, 'What is happening?' This is just love of the public."

The continuous dip in numbers after Monday did not significantly impact its overall performance. The movie remained strong at the box office throughout its first week.

The success of Stree 2 highlights a growing interest in horror comedies within Bollywood audiences. The film's impressive box office performance reflects this trend.

With such a strong start and positive word-of-mouth reviews, Stree 2 continues to draw audiences to theatres across India.
