Stree 2 Beats Pathaan In Second Week Box Office Despite Collection Dip

Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 8: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are currently celebrating the success of their latest film, Stree 2. This movie, directed by Amar Kaushik, marks their second collaboration after Stree. The horror comedy also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana, with special appearances by Akshay Kumar, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Varun Dhawan. Stree 2 has been one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year.

From its intriguing storyline about the Sarkata Bhoot to its catchy soundtrack and stellar performances, everything about Stree 2 has generated significant buzz. The film recorded the highest opening day collection of 2024 with earnings of Rs 60.3 crores (including paid reviews) and surpassed Rs 190 crores during its opening weekend. Although there was a drop in numbers on the first Monday, Stree 2 maintained a strong presence at the box office throughout its first week.

According to Sacnilk's report, Stree 2 amassed Rs 274.35 crores in its first week. However, the second week began slowly for the film at the box office. After earning Rs 19 crores on day seven (first Wednesday), the horror comedy saw a notable decline in revenue, bringing in Rs 16 crores on day eight (second Thursday). This brought the total collection to Rs 290.85 crores. Despite this being the lowest single-day collection for Stree 2 so far, it still managed to surpass Pathaan and recorded the second-highest second Thursday collection after Jawan's Rs 20.1 crores.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee has hinted at a third installment of the Stree series. He told Indian Express, "It will take time. Now that Stree 2 has become such a big hit, I know that it won't take six years to make it like we did with Stree 2. That's for sure. Some parts of the script are already written. It is going to be a big epic saga and as an actor I am dying to be back on that set."

The anticipation for Stree 3 is high among fans following Banerjee's comments about its development. With parts of the script already penned down, viewers can expect another thrilling addition to this popular franchise sooner than expected.

The success of Stree 2 underscores its widespread appeal and solidifies its place as a major hit in Bollywood this year.
