Stree 2 Beats Jawan And Gadar 2 In Third Week Box Office Showdown

Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 19: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's second collaboration, Stree 2, has been making waves for all the right reasons. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this horror comedy has become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2024. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee in lead roles, with cameo appearances by Tamannaah Bhatia, Varun Dhawan, and Akshay Kumar. Stree 2 opened to rave reviews and had a strong start at the box office.

Stree 2 began its box office journey with an impressive opening day collection of Rs 60.3 crores. The numbers saw a significant rise over the opening weekend. Despite facing some challenges during the second week, the third weekend brought relief with a notable increase in collections. This Amar Kaushik directorial continued to hold well at the box office during its first week.

However, after achieving the highest third Sunday collection ever, Stree 2 experienced a substantial drop in numbers on day 19 (third Monday). On day 18 (third Sunday), the film had earned Rs 22 crores. According to Sacnilk, Stree 2 saw a decrease of Rs 6.5 crores on day 19, bringing its total collection to Rs 486.55 crores.

Stree 2 has been competing with Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan as well as Sunny Deol's Gadar 2. It has now surpassed both Jawan and Gadar 2 once again. On day 19, Stree 2 recorded the third-highest collections after Pathaan and Baahubali 2. For context, Jawan collected Rs 4.9 crores while Gadar 2 earned Rs 5.1 crores on their respective day 19s. Pathaan remains at the top with Rs 12.6 crores followed by Baahubali 2 with Rs 6.95 crores.

The success of Stree series seems to be paving the way for more installments. Abhishek Banerjee hinted at a third installment in an interview with Indian Express: "It will take time. Now that Stree 2 has become such a big hit, I know that it won't take six years to make it like we did with Stree 2. That's for sure. Some parts of the script are already written. It is going to be a big epic saga and as an actor I am dying to be back on that set."

The movie's initial success was evident from its opening weekend itself when it saw phenomenal growth in numbers. Despite some struggles during its second week, it managed to bounce back impressively during its third weekend.

As fans eagerly await more news about potential sequels or spin-offs from this successful franchise, it's clear that Stree has left an indelible mark on Bollywood's horror-comedy genre.
