Stree 2 Sets New Record, Beats Baahubali 2 In Third Sunday Box Office Collections
Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 18: The year 2024 has been highly successful for Rajkummar Rao with three releases so far - Mr & Mrs Mahi, Srikanth, and Stree 2. While the first two had average box office performances, Stree 2 has become a blockbuster, breaking records since its release. This sequel to the 2018 film Stree also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.
Despite some struggles during its second week, Stree 2 saw a resurgence in its third weekend. According to Sacnilk, the film experienced a significant increase of over 94% on day 17 (third Saturday), earning Rs 16.5 crores. This upward trend continued on day 18 (third Sunday), with the movie collecting Rs 22 crores, bringing its total earnings to Rs 480.05 crores.

On its third Sunday, Stree 2 set a new record with the highest third Sunday collection ever. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this horror comedy surpassed Baahubali 2 (Rs 17.75 crores), Gadar 2 (Rs 16.1 crores), and Jawan (Rs 13.9 crores) in terms of earnings.
The film's impressive performance began with a phenomenal opening at the box office, collecting Rs 60.3 crores and becoming the highest opener of the year. It continued to perform well during its first week and saw notable growth in its second weekend, posing strong competition to Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan, Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, and Prabhas' Baahubali 2.
Given Stree 2's success, there are reports about a third installment in the franchise. Abhishek Banerjee mentioned to Indian Express that while parts of the script are written, the next film will take time as it aims to be a "big epic saga".
The buzz surrounding Stree 2 before its release contributed to its strong opening day performance. The film's ability to maintain momentum through subsequent weeks highlights its appeal among audiences and solidifies Rajkummar Rao's successful year in Bollywood.
The consistent box office performance of Stree 2 underscores its popularity and sets high expectations for any future installments in the series.
