Rumours suggested that Sonakshi's family, particularly her father, was unhappy with the marriage. However, Shatrughan Sinha debunked these rumours, expressing his happiness with his daughter's decision. The question remains whether Sonakshi will convert to Islam or remain Hindu after the marriage.

Zaheer Iqbal's father, Iqbal Ratansi, addressed this question ahead of the wedding. He told Free Press Journal that the marriage would not involve Hindu or Muslim rituals but would be a civil ceremony.
"She is not converting and that is for sure," Ratansi stated. "Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever." He emphasised his belief in humanity over any religion, saying, "God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings."
Despite these clarifications, rumours persist that Sonakshi's mother and brothers are unhappy with the union. It remains uncertain whether they will attend the wedding.
