This casting choice enriches the plot and highlights the film's dedication to presenting a comprehensive perspective on the war. Critics globally have praised Sky Force for its storytelling and strong performances.

On its fourth day in theatres, Sky Force collected Rs 6.25 crores domestically according to Sacnilk. However, its momentum slowed overseas with earnings of Rs 25 lakhs on the same day. The total collection after four days reached Rs 6.75 crores.
Sacnilk reports that Sky Force's worldwide box office earnings hit Rs 89.50 crores by its first Monday.
Discussing Sky Force with HT City, Akshay Kumar shared insights about his character: "Everyone declared him (Sqd. Ldr. A.B. Devaiah) a traitor and 23 saal tak kisi ko nahi pata tha that actually he was a hero. The character I play, Wing Commander K.O. Ahuja, based on Group Captain O.P Taneja, is senior to the character Veer plays in the film - T. Vijaya, based on Sqd. Ldr. Devaiah. Aap log vishwas karenge ki 23 saal baad inke parivar ko sarkaar ne maha vir chakra diya? The whole film is not only about war, it is also about what happens to the family and the children left behind".
