Sky Force Box Office Day 5: Akshay Kumar's Film Achieves Rs 75 Crores Despite Decline
Akshay Kumar has been making headlines with his latest film, Sky Force. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, this action drama is inspired by true events. It introduces Verr Pahariya and features Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur in prominent roles. Sharad Kelkar also appears as a Pakistani officer. Released just before Republic Day 2025, it was one of the year's most awaited films.
The film is based on India's first airstrike, the Sargodha airbase attack during the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965. Akshay and Veer portray Indian Air Force officers for the first time. This project marks Veer's debut collaboration with Sara, and their on-screen chemistry has been well-received. The movie generated significant buzz and opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, performing steadily at the box office in its initial week.

On its first Monday, Sky Force experienced a surprising 75% drop in earnings, collecting Rs 7 crores. According to Sacnilk, the film saw another decline on its first Tuesday, bringing in Rs 5.75 crores. This brought its total earnings to Rs 75 crores.
Notably, with Rs 5.75 crores collected on its first Tuesday, Sky Force achieved the highest day five collection of the year.
Discussing Sky Force, Akshay shared with HT City: "Everyone declared him (Sqd. Ldr. A.B. Devaiah) a traitor and 23 saal tak kisi ko nahi pata tha that actually he was a hero. The character I play, Wing Commander K.O. Ahuja, based on Group Captain O.P Taneja, is senior to the character Veer plays in the film - T. Vijaya, based on Sqd. Ldr. Devaiah. Aap log vishwas karenge ki 23 saal baad inke parivar ko sarkaar ne maha vir chakra diya? The whole film is not only about war, it is also about what happens to the family and the children left behind".
