Sidhant Gupta Commemorates Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru With Poetic Tribute On His Birth Anniversary
Actor Sidhant Gupta paid tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. Gupta, who will portray Nehru in Nikkhil Advani's series "Freedom at Midnight," shared a heartfelt poem and rare photos of the leader. The images show Nehru with Mahatma Gandhi, sharing moments with a child, and holding his signature red rose, symbolising his ideals.
Playing Nehru holds deep significance for Sidhant Gupta, especially after his success in "Jubilee." Director Nikkhil Advani praised Gupta as the ideal choice for this role. Gupta expressed that embodying Nehru has been a moving experience, describing it as an honour to bring such an influential figure to life. He shared poetic words reflecting his admiration for Nehru.

In his tribute, Sidhant wrote: "My distant dream / Is coming alive / After all the miseries, struggles, and fight, / Breaking the shackles imprisoning my light. / I carried the weight of the life I played, / Tasting glories in his life's story. / While his grace was worth every chase, / Beyond that face, the world he braced. / Built marvels in the dungeons, / So ahead of his time, against all hate."
He continued: "Playing Nehru has been an honor, / An unknown aid awaited me in every corner. / Someone or the other will always pull you down, / But I will win the longest run, holding my ground. / To hell with the spiteful, / Magic's in the rightful. / When the heart beats for every other, / Unyielded in the loudest shudder. / My distant dream is coming alive, / Freedom's around the corner, / It's almost midnight."
Sidhant embraced Nehru's legacy by wearing a red rose during promotions for "Freedom at Midnight." This gesture honours Nehru's spirit and ideals. The series is produced by Emmay Entertainment's Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani with StudioNext. Directed by Nikkhil Advani and based on Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre's book, it explores India's struggle for independence.
The writing team includes Abhinandan Gupta, Adwitiya Kareng Das, Gundeep Kaur, Divya Nidhi Sharma, Revanta Sarabhai, and Ethan Taylor. The show will stream from 15th November exclusively on Sony LIV.
