Vardhan Puri Celebrates Grandfather Amrish Puri's Role In 'Manthan' Re-release

Veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal's 1976 classic film, 'Manthan', is set for a theatrical re-release on June 1 and 2 in various Indian cities. This follows the warm reception it received at Cannes 2024. The film features a stellar cast including Amrish Puri, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Girish Karnad, Anant Nag, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.

'Manthan' will be screened in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Anand, Rajkot, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. This re-release is expected to draw in audiences of all ages, celebrating a significant piece of Indian cinema history.

Vardhan Puri, grandson of Amrish Puri, expressed his delight about the re-release. "It's going to be a grand and special occasion for all of us," Vardhan said. He emphasised the film's importance, noting, "'Manthan' is a classic produced by the Amul Dairy Cooperative initiative and directed by Shyam Benegal sir."

He added, "I feel blessed that whenever I miss my grandfather, I can watch him on screen. Special thanks to Shivendra Singh Dungarpur for restoring the film and organising this premiere." Vardhan also expressed his eagerness to meet Shyam Benegal and other industry stalwarts at the premiere.
