Shekhar Home OTT Debut: Kay Kay Menon Leads In New Detective Series

JioCinema Premium is set to debut its new detective drama series, Shekhar Home, on August 14th. The series features Kay Kay Menon as Shekhar, a detective known for his remarkable ability to solve intricate cases. The cast also includes Ranvir Shorey, Rasika Dugal, and Kirti Kulhari, each contributing their distinctive talents to significant roles. Directed by Rohan Sippy and Srijit Mukherjee, Shekhar Home draws inspiration from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's literary works.

The show is set in the 1990s in a small town in West Bengal. Filming took place during an intense heat wave with temperatures soaring between 45-50 degrees Celsius. This extreme weather was intentionally chosen to create an authentic rustic atmosphere reflective of the era. Both Kay Kay Menon and Rasika Dugal shared their experiences of working under these harsh conditions.

Kay Kay Menon described the challenging conditions: "It was 45+ degrees plus and it was scorching heat but when you are too immersed and enjoying, it's typically like a batsman batting at hundred. He is exhausted but he still enjoys it so much that it doesn't matter. For me as well, working in this was a very enjoyable affair and that mattered the most. If it wouldn't have been so much fun, heat would surely have bothered me much more. But obviously, when you go back to your room, you see the damage caused by the sun and that's entirely different."

Rasika Dugal also commented on the difficulties faced: "We shot in the middle of a heat wave for Shekhar Home and it was quite difficult. We were shooting outdoors and it was not easy to maintain the look in those extreme conditions. I would also like to give a special mention to the crew. Their work involves so much physical labor; shooting in such extreme weather conditions requires everyone to give their all in."

The series aims to transport viewers back to the 1990s through its setting and storytelling. The decision to film during such extreme weather conditions was made to enhance the show's authenticity.

Shekhar Home promises an engaging narrative inspired by classic detective stories while showcasing stellar performances from its cast. Fans of detective dramas can look forward to watching Shekhar Home on JioCinema Premium starting August 14th.
