Sheena Chohan Honoured With President’s Lifetime Achievement Award By Biden
Actress Sheena Chohan received The President's Lifetime Achievement Award from U.S. President Joseph Biden at a ceremony on 8 June in the USA. During her speech, she urged Indian schools and universities to teach human rights practically, ensuring people understand and benefit from the Indian Constitution.
Sheena Chohan, who ranks first on Google for "Indian Actor Human Rights," was personally invited by Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to promote the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. She is the only Indian celebrity followed by Türk's official office on Instagram.

Taking Türk's request seriously, Sheena received the award from President Biden for raising awareness about basic rights and equality to over 170 million people. Sheena stated, "Human Rights are essential for creating a decent society of peace and equality. The most important way to achieve that is through awareness and education campaigns."
Her podcast, Born Free & Equal, collaborated with artists like Preity Zinta, Sonakshi Sinha, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood, Sanjana Sanghi, and Imtiaz Ali. It spread awareness of basic rights and equality to over 100 million people during lockdown. However, Sheena believes more needs to be done.
"India is the most populous and youthful country in the world. Our youth need to fully understand their rights in line with the new National Education Policy," she added. "Rights must be taught so they are understood—using dictionaries for difficult words and real-life examples so children and young people grasp concepts like No Discrimination, Social Security, No Torture, and No Slavery."
Previously honoured with the Human Rights Hero Award at the United Nations in New York, Sheena has worked to integrate human rights education into over 100 schools and universities' curriculums. She highlighted that United for Human Rights has created Hollywood-quality films for each of the 30 human rights, dubbed them in Hindi, and offers free education kits globally.
"India has one of the finest constitutions globally. It contains all the rights and responsibilities our laws are based on. This crucial information must be mandatory in all Indian schools and universities," Sheena emphasized.
On the professional front, Sheena is currently in America shooting while awaiting her Hollywood debut in a film directed by Taron Lexton. This film tied a Guinness World Record for being shot in the most countries. Last week, her Hindi film Amar Prem was launched at Cannes' official Indian pavilion.
Sheena will return to India in mid-June to finish shooting a web series where she plays a negative lead. Additionally, her Hindi debut Sant Tukaram will be launched soon. In this historical drama directed by Aditya Om, she stars alongside Subodh Bhave.
Sheena was last seen on Netflix's Fame Game with Madhuri Dixit and Disney Hotstar's The Trial with Kajol. She was also nominated for Best Actress for her lead role in Ant Story, which was acquired by Netflix.
