Shashank Arora On Choosing 'Superboys Of Malegaon' And Collaborating With Reema Kagti
Actor Shashank Arora, known for his selective roles, will soon appear in "Superboys of Malegaon." He prioritises stories with depth and meaning over commercial appeal. "Always looking for stories with a soul over salability and those who love telling them," he said about his role selection criteria.
The trailer for 'Superboys of Malegaon' was released on Friday. The film stars Adarsh Gourav and Vineet Kumar Singh alongside Shashank. Set in the small town of Malegaon, Maharashtra, it tells a story of dreams, friendship, and filmmaking inspired by Nasir Sheikh's real-life events.

Shashank praised director Reema Kagti, calling her a filmmaker with exceptional clarity. "Reema is a powerful filmmaker and comes with all the clarity any actor could hope for. My second time with her after 'Made In Heaven' and it's been an incredible experience. Can't wait for you to watch the film," he added.
The film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti under Excel Entertainment and Tiger Baby banners. Varun Grover wrote the script while Reema Kagti directed it.
'Superboys of Malegaon' will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13. It will then be screened at the BFI London Film Festival on October 10. The film is set to release in theatres in January 2025 and will later stream on Prime Video.
Shashank's career began with a supporting role in "Myoho" in 2012. He gained recognition with his performance in "Titli" (2014) and continued to build his reputation with films like "Brahman Naman" (2016) and "Lipstick Under My Burkha" (2017). His portrayal of Shaad Amritsari in Nandita Das' "Manto" (2018) further solidified his standing as a versatile actor.
In 2019, Shashank appeared in the series "Made In Heaven" and played Salman Khan's brother in the film "Bharat." His diverse roles reflect his commitment to choosing projects that offer substantial narratives.
