Sharda Sinha Health Update: Renowned Folk Singer 'Bihar Kokila' Hospitalised On Ventilator Support

Renowned folk and classical singer Sharda Sinha, affectionately known as 'Bihar Kokila,' is currently hospitalised and on ventilator support. Her son, Anshuman, shared that she is experiencing significant pain and has been admitted to Delhi AIIMS Hospital. The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee's health condition has raised concerns among her fans.

According to an ANI report, the 72-year-old singer has been battling multiple myeloma since 2018. Her health took a turn for the worse on Monday, necessitating ventilator support. AIIMS released a statement, quoted by ANI, stating that her condition is "haemodynamically stable but under constant monitoring."

Sharda Sinha is celebrated for her contributions to Indian classical and folk music, particularly in Maithili and Bhojpuri languages. Her melodious voice earned her the nickname 'Bihar Kokila.' She was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1991 for her musical achievements.

In January 2018, she received the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award. These accolades reflect her significant impact on the world of music.

Born on 1st October 1952 in Hulus, Bihar, Sharda Sinha has a rich repertoire of Chhath songs such as 'Kelwa Ke Paat Par Ugalan Suraj Mal' and 'Roje Roje Ugelaa.' She also sang in Hindi films like 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and 'Hum Apke Hai Kon.'

In 1970, she married Brajkishore Sinha and they have two children: Anshuman and Vandana. Sadly, her husband passed away from a brain haemorrhage in September this year, leaving her deeply affected.

The singer's ongoing battle with multiple myeloma has been challenging. Despite being stable at present, she remains under vigilant medical supervision at AIIMS. Her family and fans are hopeful for her recovery.
