Shahid Kapoor Reveals Feeling Insulted On Padmaavat Sets Amid Viral Claims

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 film 'Padmaavat' is set for a theatrical re-release. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, this historical drama was among the top earners of its year. Despite its success, the movie was embroiled in numerous controversies. Recently, a claim about Shahid Kapoor being 'insulted' on the film's set has gained traction online.

Shahid Kapoor recently shared an experience where he felt 'lesser' as a star before his role in 'Kabir Singh'. Although he didn't specify names, many believe he referred to his time on 'Padmaavat'. During a podcast with Raj Shamani, Shahid expressed feeling undervalued as an artist and individual.

In the podcast, Shahid stated, "Ye Kabir Singh ke pehle mere saath hua tha. Mere andar jo kuch tha, mujhe laga ke I am lesser. Mujhe aisa mehsoos karaya gaya. Kisi ne zabardasti nahi ki. As an artist, as a star, as an individual. Mujhe aisa situation mein dala gaya ke mujhe aisa feel ho ke main kam hoon. Aur yeh main kabhi accept nahi karunga. It's like your clothes are better than mine. It's a comparative. Sometimes life puts you in a situation where it plays out in a way where somebody is... you're in enclosed proximity and you're made to feel lesser. It's nobody's fault, I'm not getting into that. But that is what I went through for some time. And I was made to feel like that. And I fought it."

Previously, Shahid mentioned feeling like an 'outsider' during the filming of Bhansali's 'Padmaavat'. This sentiment resurfaced after his recent comments went viral.

Following Shahid's remarks, an alleged insider from the film's production claimed that Shahid faced disrespect on set. The user commented, "True man really, i was working on Padmaavat, Ranveer was on their peak time, and Shahid was in down time, Ranveer avoiding secondary shots, dup was taking care those shots, and Shahid giving all the shots if he said something, the director was not listening and he insults shahid. Time matters."

Upcoming Re-Release of Padmaavat

'Padmaavat' celebrated its seventh anniversary last week. After multiple changes to its re-release date, it has been confirmed that the film will return to cinemas on 6th February 2025.
