Pakistani Actress Sarah Khan Reveals Dream To Star Alongside Salman Khan

New Delhi, Mar 5 (PTI) Pakistani actor Sarah Khan, who has garnered a significant fan base in India through her performances in "Hum Tum", "Khirkiyan", and "Sabaat", expressed her aspiration to work alongside Bollywood icon Salman Khan. At 31, Sarah is currently seen in the Zindagi show "Abdullahpur Ka Devdas", a narrative that explores a classic love triangle among three characters. She highlighted her substantial following in both India and Pakistan, expressing her eagerness to venture into Bollywood films.

"For any actor, it is a big deal to work in another space so it will be great if I get to work in Bollywood. I would love to. I feel half of my audience is in India, and the other half is in Pakistan. Who is not a fan of Bollywood?... I really like Deepika Padukone. And when I began my career, I thought that I will work with Salman Khan," Sarah shared with PTI during an interview. Her latest show, which commenced filming just before the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, experienced a slight delay in its release. Nonetheless, the actor remains optimistic that its old-school romantic narrative will captivate viewers. "I wanted my audience to see 'Abdullapur Ka Devdas' and my portrayal of Gul Bano. It's an old school love story set in modern times. It's about two people who fall in love through letters," she explained.

Sarah Khan's Bollywood Dream with Salman

Emphasizing the shared cultural affinities between Indian and Pakistani audiences, particularly their love for 'shayari' and culturally rooted love stories, Sarah believes these elements contribute to the universal appeal of such narratives. Married to Pakistani singer Falak Shabir, she stars in "Abdullahpur Ka Devdas" alongside Bilal Abbas and Raza Talish under the direction of Anjum Shahzad and writer Shahid Dogar, with Shailja Kejriwal serving as producer.

Sarah attributes the popularity of Pakistani serials in India to their realistic portrayal of everyday life, allowing audiences from both nations to find relatability. She also noted the evolving landscape of Pakistani dramas, which are gradually moving away from conventional hero-heroine centric plots to embrace more diverse narratives.

Initially aspiring to be a singer during her school days, Sarah recounted how an unexpected encounter with individuals from Hum TV led her to acting—a field she temporarily stepped away from only to realize it was her true calling. "Abdullahpur Ka Devdas" is also available for viewing on YouTube, offering fans across borders easy access to this engaging love story.
