IP Address Of Threat Against Salman Khan Traced To Portugal, Says Police

Mumbai, Apr 15 (PTI) - In a recent development that has gripped the city of Mumbai, the IP (Internet Protocol) address linked to a Facebook post, which claimed responsibility for an attack on Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence, has been traced back to Portugal. This revelation was made by a senior police official on Monday. The post, allegedly uploaded by Anmol Bishnoi, sibling of the incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, surfaced online shortly after an early morning incident where two unidentified individuals on motorcycles fired shots at Khan's Bandra home.

Investigations have led authorities to believe that a VPN (virtual private network) was utilized to mask the true location of the individual who made the post. VPNs are known for their ability to encrypt personal data and hide users' IP addresses, making it challenging to trace online activities directly. The contentious Facebook post appeared at around 11 am on Sunday, mere hours following the shooting incident which occurred approximately at 5 AM.

Salman Khan Threat IP Traced to Portugal

The message, penned in Hindi, ominously referred to the shooting as an "event" and a "trailer", hinting at a demonstration of power and issuing a stark warning. It stated, "We have only shown you a trailer so that you understand the magnitude of our strength and do not test it. This is the first and last warning." Further inquiries revealed that prior to this alarming episode, surveillance activities were carried out near Khan's Galaxy Apartment residence.

In light of these threats, security measures around Galaxy Apartment have been significantly bolstered. Salman Khan, who enjoys Y+ category security protection, will now see an increased police presence around him. The officer disclosed that additional precautions are being implemented during Khan's movements, especially when he is scheduled for film shoots. A vehicle from the Special Protection Unit (SPU) is now permanently stationed outside his residence. Moreover, local law enforcement has ramped up patrols and stationed officers outside the apartment to ensure heightened vigilance.

Authorities are also scrutinizing CCTV footage from the vicinity of Galaxy Apartment to ascertain if the attackers had mingled with fans gathered on April 11 for Eid celebrations, hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor. This meticulous examination aims to identify the culprits and understand their modus operandi more clearly.

The incident has not only raised concerns about the safety of one of Bollywood's most beloved figures but also highlighted the sophisticated means through which individuals can carry out and claim responsibility for such acts in today's digital age. As investigations continue, Mumbai police are determined to uncover the full extent of this plot and ensure the safety of Salman Khan and his family.
