Kick At 10: How Salman Khan’s Warm Gesture Touched Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of 'Kick', we revisited an old interview with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played the antagonist in the Salman Khan starrer. Nawazuddin's character, 'Devi Gajra', a gangster known for making a peculiar noise after every dialogue, captivated audiences and became a meme sensation over the years.
In an interview with The Times of India, Nawazuddin expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response to his role in 'Kick'. He credited much of his success to Salman Khan. Known for his versatile performances, Siddiqui was deeply flattered by the appreciation from both audiences and critics.

"I thought people may not even notice me. Itna jyaada appreciate karenge, aisa nahi socha tha. What can I say to this? It's a huge compliment. I am flattered. This brilliant response will help my small budget films. At a private screening, Salman warmly hugged me and appreciated my work. I owe this to him as it's because of Salman that I was able to reach out to a wider audience," said Nawazuddin.
The actor also highlighted the collaborative effort behind the scenes, acknowledging director Sajid Nadiadwala for his vision and support throughout the filmmaking process. Released in 2014, 'Kick' marked Nadiadwala's directorial debut and became a blockbuster at the box office, crossing the coveted 200 crore mark.
Today marks 10 years since 'Kick' hit theatres, celebrating every aspect of the film, including its cast and makers who contributed to its success. The film's enduring popularity is a testament to its impact on Bollywood cinema.
