Saiyami Kher Takes Inspiration From Harshini Kanhekar For Her Role As A Firefighter In Agni
Saiyami Kher is set to portray a firefighter in the upcoming film Agni, directed by Rahul Dholakia. This role marks a significant step in Indian cinema as Kher draws inspiration from Harshini Kanhekar, India's first female firefighter. The film also features Pratik Gandhi and Divyendu Sharma, promising an action-packed narrative that highlights the bravery of frontline workers.
Kher's preparation for her role involved learning from Harshini Kanhekar's story. She expressed pride in taking on this character, stating, "Portraying a firefighter is a role I feel incredibly proud and privileged to take on, I was extremely ashamed of myself because I didn't know about the female representation of women in the fire dep. Harshini Kanhekar was the first female firefighter and her story is both humbling and motivating. It's very disappointing that not many people don't know that there are female firefighters. Harshini's story-of determination, grit, and breaking barriers-served as a guiding light for many to follow.. Playing a character like this came with its own challenges, both physically and emotionally. Harshini's path-breaking achievements helped me see the depth of commitment and resilience that women like her bring to a traditionally male-dominated field. I hope my portrayal in Agni will not only honor her but also inspire others to recognize the quiet strength of our everyday heroes. I was very fortunate to spend time with almost 50 women fire fighters for prep and draw from their inspiring lives."

Agni aims to celebrate the heroism of firefighters through its bold storyline. Directed by Rahul Dholakia, known for his compelling narratives, the film explores the lives of those who risk everything to save others. Saiyami Kher's character pays tribute to real-life heroes like Harshini Kanhekar, showcasing their courage and dedication.
The film is expected to hit screens later this year. Saiyami Kher's performance as a firefighter is anticipated to be an inspiring addition to Indian cinema. Her portrayal honours courageous women who excel in challenging fields, offering audiences a memorable cinematic experience.
