Mumbai Court Extends Police Custody For Saif Ali Khan's Attacker Shehzad Mohammad Until January 29

A Mumbai court has extended the police custody of a man accused of attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The accused, Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, was presented before a Bandra magistrate. His custody has been prolonged until January 29 for further investigation into the incident that occurred during a robbery attempt at Khan's residence.

The police argued that additional time was necessary to explore critical aspects of the case. The court agreed and granted an extension of seven days. The attacker, originally from Bangladesh, had entered India illegally last year and assumed the name Vijay Das. He was apprehended in Thane city, close to Mumbai.

Saif Ali Khan, aged 54, faced a terrifying ordeal when he was repeatedly stabbed by an intruder wielding a knife inside his Bandra apartment. This incident happened on January 16 during an attempted robbery. The attack has sparked discussions about security measures for celebrities living in high-profile areas.

Khan sustained serious injuries, including wounds to his neck and near his spine. He was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital for treatment. After undergoing two surgeries, he was discharged from the hospital on January 21.
