'RRR' Action Sequence Celebrated In Oscars 2024 Tribute To Stunt Community

An action sequence from SS Rajamouli's "RRR" was showcased at the 96th Academy Awards, highlighting the significant contributions of the stunt community to global cinema. The montage, presented by Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt at Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, underscored the pivotal role of stunt performers and coordinators in the film industry. Despite ongoing efforts, the Oscars have not yet introduced a category for stunts, though a new category for casting directors was recently announced.

The official X page of "RRR" expressed appreciation for the inclusion of the film's action sequences in the Oscars' tribute to iconic stunt sequences. The "RRR" segment, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was part of a montage that also included scenes from classic and modern films like "Titanic" and "Black Panther". Additionally, the Oscars stage featured "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR", with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo introducing the segment. The song, composed by MM Keeravaani and penned by K Chandrabose, is celebrated as the first from an Indian production to win an Oscar.
