Richie Mehta Shares Filmmaking Journey And 'Poacher' At MIFF 2024
MIFF 2024: The 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) featured celebrated filmmaker Richie Mehta. Known for "Delhi Crime" and "Poacher," Mehta discussed his journey in creating these shows at a packed auditorium in NMIC, Mumbai.
Mehta expressed that his motivation for backing "Poacher" extended beyond conservation. He appreciated the success of the cause. "My favourite part of the process is research because you get to know people who are really remarkable," he said.

Mehta emphasized the importance of not using real animals in the series. "There was no chance I was going to use real animals," he stated. The technology used had to meet a certain standard, and local Indian artists contributed significantly to the project. This, he said, gave him great pride.
Future Projects and Approach
When asked about future projects, Mehta mentioned his focus on script and acting. He is researching new ideas, particularly focusing on 'Big Cats.' He also stressed the importance of using one's position to highlight key issues.
Team Acknowledgment and Fear
Mehta showed his appreciation for the "Poacher" team present in the audience. Addressing his fears during the making of "Poacher," he said, "The only fear I had was, will I be able to fulfill my promise to the wildlife team."
Event Highlights
The session concluded with a red carpet screening of "Poacher." Filmmaker Richie Mehta, NFDC's MD Pritul Kumar, and other dignitaries attended. The 18th MIFF started on June 15 and will end on June 21, 2024. Special screenings are also planned in Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, and Delhi, making the festival accessible nationwide.
