Ram Gopal Varma Receives Three-Month Jail Sentence In Cheque Bounce Case
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been sentenced to three months in jail by a court in Andheri due to a cheque bounce case. The Judicial Magistrate (First Class), Y P Pujari, found Varma guilty under the Negotiable Instruments Act and issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for him.
The court has ordered Varma to compensate the complainant with Rs 3,72,219 within three months from the ruling date. The detailed order is yet to be released. As Varma was absent during the court's decision, a standing non-bailable warrant was issued for his arrest according to the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The cheque bounce complaint against Varma's firm dates back to 2018 when it was filed by another company. In April 2022, Varma was granted bail on a cash security of Rs 5,000.
