Mr and Mrs Mahi marks Janhvi's second collaboration with Rajkummar and director Sharan Sharma. Previously, Janhvi worked with Rajkummar in the 2021 release Roohi, which also featured Varun Sharma. She also starred in Sharan Sharma's directorial debut Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.

Discussing his character and the movie, Rajkummar stated, "My character's name is Mahendra. He is a failed cricketer who had a lot of passion for cricket and wanted to play for the country. However, due to peer and family pressure, it didn't happen. He then marries Mahima, and they live out his dream through her as she plays cricket while he trains her."
