Raj Kundra Takes Legal Action Against Defamatory Coverage Linking Him To Illegal Immigration Case
Raj Kundra, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra, has initiated legal proceedings to defend his reputation. He has filed a lawsuit against those who have allegedly defamed him with false accusations. These claims, disseminated through a news article and a YouTube channel, link him to an illegal immigration scandal involving Riya Barade. Kundra's legal action seeks to address and correct these damaging allegations.
The court has authorised the Juhu Police to investigate and file an FIR, marking the start of a thorough inquiry into the claims against Kundra. This investigation is vital for clearing his name and holding those responsible for the defamatory content accountable. Kundra's legal pursuit aims not only at personal vindication but also at restoring his public image.

Kundra's quest for justice led him to file a complaint at Mumbai's Juhu Police Station under Section 356(3) of the Bharruya Nyay Sanhita, 2023. This legal step, approved by court orders, is his attempt to counter the deliberate defamation of his character. Expressing his distress, he stated, "I have been compelled by the media to take this step. On multiple occasions, they have tarnished my image by publishing false and defamatory statements. Despite sending takedown notices and giving them the opportunity to retract, no action was taken. My matter is subjudice, I have been fighting in court for my discharge".
In another development, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra recently achieved a legal victory when the Bombay High Court suspended their eviction notice from the Enforcement Directorate (ED). This notice was linked to a money laundering investigation that they had previously challenged. Their lawyer, Prashant Patil, strongly denied any involvement in the Ponzi scheme mentioned in media reports, emphasising their opposition to baseless accusations.
Kundra voiced his frustration over the lengthy legal process: "It's been three years in which three judges have changed. Whilst it's frustrating I have full faith in the law. I don't deserve to be pronounced guilty in a trial by the media". His statement highlights his resolve to clear his name and trust in the judicial system's ability to deliver justice.
This series of legal battles and public statements illustrates the difficulties faced by public figures in protecting their reputations against allegations. Kundra's proactive approach underscores how essential legal channels are for addressing defamatory claims and sets an example for handling similar issues publicly.
