This sequel to the 2021 hit "Pushpa: The Rise" has broken numerous records, earning Rs 1,500 crore globally. Released on December 5 in multiple languages, it continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
The year-end report by BookMyShow, titled #BookMyShowThrowback, highlights significant trends in cinema and live entertainment for 2024. It analysed data from January 1 to December 5, revealing that November 1 was a standout day with a record-breaking sale of 2.3 million tickets in just one day.

Besides "Pushpa 2," other popular films of the year included Hindi hits like "Stree 2," "Singham Again," and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3." Telugu films such as "Kalki 2898 AD," "HanuMan," and Tamil movies like "Amaran" also drew large audiences. Additionally, classics like "Kal Ho Na Ho" and "Rockstar" were re-released, allowing fans to relive these beloved stories.
Hollywood franchises also made a strong impact in cinemas. Films like "Deadpool & Wolverine," "Dune: Part Two," and "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" thrilled audiences with their action-packed narratives. Meanwhile, smaller films such as "Aavesham" and "Merry Christmas" demonstrated that compelling stories can succeed regardless of budget.
The live events scene flourished in 2024 with BookMyShow hosting an impressive 30,687 events across 319 cities. This marked an 18% increase in India's live entertainment consumption. Notable performances included Nick Jonas at Lollapalooza and Ed Sheeran's March concert featuring Diljit Dosanjh.
Music tourism emerged as a key trend with over 4,77,393 fans travelling for concerts. Tier-2 cities saw a remarkable growth of 682% in live events, indicating wider access to entertainment across India. Coldplay's upcoming concert in Ahmedabad has already attracted attendees from over 500 cities.
